Breaking bonds
Madeleine broke free from her final paci on Saturday and hasn't looked back. There was no fanfare, no promise of a special toy to replace it, nothing. Simply, "Madeleine, it's time to throw this paci away. It's broken and doesn't work any more." Besides the expected immediate tears she hasn't asked for it or lamented it's loss. I can't believe we've overcome this anticipated milestone; my little girl isn't so little any more.

To add: the plastic "nubby" part she put in her mouth was coming off and we were afraid that she would choke on it. So after a few conversations leading up to it, I suggested that Madeleine should pull it off before it broke off in her mouth and so she did. She has been very proud of herself at night telling us how she is a big girl now and doesn't use her paci "anymore!" (enounciated En e Mo Ah)
For once I try to be short and sweet for a post and Justin has to go and ruin it :)
So proud of her and so proud of how well you prepared her! (She even told me while we were there that her paci was nearly broken, and that she would throw it away when it broke!) Wow!
